Like with most things in life, in order to offer you the best service possible, there are certain rules that you need to abide by. If you are ever unsure of anything, please contact us. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
1) Be reasonable. Don't store anything that you think that we wouldn't accept (you'd probably be right).
2) Please be sure to have proper insurance in place. We offer all our customers £500 complimentary standard liability. If you are storing items of significant financial value, we understand that you may want to buy increased standard liability.
3) You're responsible for ensuring your items are properly packed. Please ensure, where necessary, bubble wrap etc. is used so that your items are properly protected. Aside from the caps put in our Terms of Service we expressly disclaim all liability for fragile items or any items that are poorly packed.
4) Do NOT store any of the following items:
- Things you'd typically not be to happy seeing your neighbour playing around with: hazardous, combustible, flammable, damaging or explosive goods, including liquids, chemicals, gas bottles, aerosols, paints, firearms and ammunition or any other material of a dangerous or toxic nature
- Things that smell: pollutants that are likely to cause contamination, infestation or encourage vermin or other pests or emit fumes, smell or odour.
- Things that are or were alive: This is not limited to your neighbour's annoying dog but includes all livestock, living or dead animals, birds, fish, reptiles, plants or any other living organism of any type.
- Items easily spoiled: Perishable items or those requiring a controlled environment including frozen or perishable food.
- Precious items: jewellery, ivory, watches, stamps, precious stones or precious metals.
- Valuables: antiques, furs, fine arts (or collections of a similar kind) or mobile phones.
- Items of pleasure: perfumery, tobacco, cigars, cigarettes, beers, wines, spirits and the like.
- Things that would get you arrested or that at least would make us all a bit embarrassed: Illegal or stolen goods, drugs, pornographic material or any goods prohibited by the law or regulation of any government or public or local authority or goods that require special license or government consent for export or import.
- Cash and the likes: money, deeds, bullions, bonds, securities, coins, cash or negotiable instruments and the like (including cheques and any vouchers with a face value);
5) We're not your local handy man. We will not (unless agreed in advance by us in writing) dismantle or assemble furniture of any kind, disconnect, re-connect, dismantle or re-assemble appliances, fixtures, fittings or equipment or collect items from a loft or attic, unless properly lit and floored and safe access is provided. Please speak to us before our visit if you require any of this help.
6) It is your responsibility to ensure that your contact details, including email address and mobile telephone number, are up-to-date and accurate and that parking has been arranged no further than 20 meters away from entrance to your home. Its also your responsibility to:
- ensure that the crates have been securely and properly packed in compliance with any statutory regulations or recognised standards and in such condition as not to cause damage or injury or the likelihood of damage or injury to our property or to any other goods, whether by spreading of damp, infestation, leakage or the escape of fumes or substances or otherwise;
- not exceed the gross weight limit of 25kg per item, box or crate (if several items are collected into one box or crate) unless we've agreed otherwise in writing in advance;
- be present or represented throughout the agreed collection or delivery of the items ordered from us;
- provide us sufficient access to enable us to carry out the collections and deliveries;
- ensure that you or your personal representative sign for the items when requested as confirmation of collection or delivery;
- take all reasonable steps to ensure that nothing is collected in error;
- inform us in writing within 48 hours of any damage to your goods or property that has occurred during storage, delivery, collection or return delivery;
- ensure that the lid of each crate is easily sealable and closable.
7) Please pay - on time. We have no wish to do so, but if you don't pay we'll be forced to sell your items. We'll give you 30 days' written notice asking you to settle all outstanding sums and to re-arrange a return of your items. During this time we'll also charge you interest on any amounts owed to us. Further charges from 3rd party debt collectors may also apply. If you still fail to settle what you owe us, we'll be forced to sell some or all of your items. This is described in further detail in our Terms of Service, but its really easiest for all parties if we can avoid this.
In this summary we've tried to list the most important aspects of our storage rules. However, for a more complete list please see our Terms of Service as well as the Summary of our standard liability. These documents not only detail our and our standard liability company's conditions in more details but they will also override and take precedent over any potential mistake we've put in this document.
